2023 Mazda CX-70
Mazda is expanding its lineup with the CX-70, a brand-new mid-sized SUV featuring two rows. Positioned as a more luxurious model compared to the CX-5 and CX-50, the CX-70 is expected to offer a plug-in hybrid drivetrain option in addition to its inline-six engine. This powerful engine has the potential to generate over 300 horsepower. Inside, the CX-70 is anticipated to boast an upscale interior cabin with premium materials like Nappa leather, wood trim, and woven textiles.
Many Mazda CX-70 specs are known to us at this point and others are all but certain. For example, there is a choice between two powertrain options. One is an inline-six gasoline engine paired with a 48-volt hybrid system, while the other is a Mazda CX-70 Hybrid option drivetrain featuring a 2.5-liter inline-four engine. The inline-six engine, possibly the same 340-horsepower, turbocharged 3.3-liter found in the CX-90, will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a 48-volt hybrid system. On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid model is likely to share its powertrain with the CX-60, delivering a combined output of 323 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The Plug-in Mazda CX-70 PHEV option version is also expected to have an electric driving range of 39 miles.
Interior
The CX-70 is designed as a two-row SUV, providing ample room for up to five passengers. Emphasizing its upscale positioning, the CX-70 will offer a superior interior compared to many competitors in its price range. Taking cues from the well-crafted cabins of the CX-60 and CX-90, the CX-70 is expected to showcase premium materials including woven textiles, Nappa leather, and tasteful wood trim. These elements contribute to an attractive dashboard design, adding a touch of elegance to the overall interior ambiance.
Tech, Safety, and Driver-Assistance
The CX-70 is expected to feature a generously sized infotainment screen, potentially matching the 12.3-inch display found in the CX-60 global model. Conveniently located on the center console, the infotainment system will be operated through a rotary knob interface. Standard equipment will likely include popular smartphone connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling seamless integration with compatible devices.
Key safety features will likely include:
- Standard automatic emergency braking
- Standard lane departure warning and lane-keep assist
- Standard blind-spot monitoring
